1. The Burlington Residents’ Action Group (BRAG) is committed to protecting your privacy. BRAG adheres to strict policies to prevent any unauthorized access or use of personal information.

2. In all instances, personal information is voluntarily submitted by you. The information that you provide, specifically your name, email address, address, and phone number is used to send or provide updates, information, and appeals on BRAG issues and campaigns. The information is not used for any other purposes.

3. We do not, under any circumstances publish, disclose, sell, exchange, or give away personal information which we have collected from you, without your explicit approval to do so. We may share aggregate information about our supporter base, stripped of any personally identifiable information, to third parties to comply with reporting obligations, and for business or marketing purposes

4. Access to all personal information is restricted to BRAG officers, employees, and authorized agents only.

5. Occasionally, BRAG provides information about other organizations or online links. BRAG does not take any responsibility for the privacy policies of these organizations and encourages users to review the privacy policies of such organizations through their websites or by contacting them.

6. BRAG may regularly organize petition campaigns both online and through signature collection on paper. The names and addresses collected on these petitions, whether signed online or in person, are presented to the designated politician or body to whom the petition is addressed. Subject to paragraph 3 above, BRAG may also choose to send or provide information about itself to individuals who have added their names to a petition.

7. To review your personal information collected by BRAG or to be removed from our lists, please direct your request by filling in the contact form on the contact us page.

8. BRAG complies with the federal Protection of Personal Information and Electronic Documents Act and all relevant provincial legislation.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Cookies

If you leave a comment on our site you may opt-in to saving your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies will last for one year.

If you visit our login page, we will set a temporary cookie to determine if your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.

When you log in, we will also set up several cookies to save your login information and your screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for a year. If you select “Remember Me”, your login will persist for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.

Who we share your data with

If you request a password reset, your IP address will be included in the reset email.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can recognize and approve any follow-up comments automatically instead of holding them in a moderation queue.

For users that register on our website (if any), we also store the personal information they provide in their user profile. All users can see, edit, or delete their personal information at any time (except they cannot change their username). Website administrators can also see and edit that information.
